Tip burn is caused by the nutrient level being too high. It is like putting suction on the root system, the nutrients start going in the opposite direction, instead of going into the plant the nutrient goes away from the plant causing the leaf tip to dry out. Tip burn starts at the tip and can spread to the rest of the leaf edges. Improper foliar spraying can damage leaves as well.
