Hey Chris,

Great Question. Thanks for using Emerald Harvest.

You can safely begin to use our 3-part base nutrient series Grow, Micro, Bloom right away. Nevertheless, you have also raised good point: Growers cultivating certain plant strains may need to shorten or lengthen the duration of the crop life cycle shown on our feeding charts. For example, an Alaskan autoflowering plant requires a much shorter cycle than other strains, so you would remove weeks from the feeding chart. Other strains are the opposite, requiring longer life cycles, so more weeks than the feeding chart shows.

For your situation, I would suggest you follow our online feeding chart, but tailor the duration of the crop life cycle to your strain by skipping the following weeks on the feeding chart:

  • Late Vegetative
  • Early Flowering
  • Mid Flowering
  • Late Flowering

In addition, if your growing medium already has added nutrients (e.g., if you’re using a potting mix that has additional minerals or organic amendments), we recommend that you start out by feeding your crops at half the application rate on the feeding chart and increasing the rate as your plants mature.

If you grow other strains as well, you may want to note that for a strain that requires a longer life cycle, such as a Haze variety, you would add weeks to the following stages:

  • Early Flowering
  • Mid Flowering
  • Late Flowering

As for the frequency of feedings, we recommend that you apply the nutrients every third watering.

I hope your grow continues to go well! If you have any other questions, please feel free to reach out to me.

Best,

Dr. R. Sharma
